Welcome to our Employee Spotlight series — a glimpse into the individuals driving 3D Spark forward. In this series, we focus on highlighting the professionals who contribute to making our company an impactful workplace.
Today, we begin with Ruben Meuth, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of 3D Spark GmbH. Ruben is at the forefront of our mission to achieve sustainable manufacturing and procurement by minimizing waste in time, manual labour, and costs. In this interview he shares his insights, experiences, and vision for 3D Spark.
1. What is your role on the 3D Spark team?
Ruben: My prime focus is to make our customers life easier and create value for them by ensuring that we build a solution that helps solve their challenges. The rest derives from that like driving product strategy, building a top customer success & support team, setting up scalable commercial operations, representative tasks, KPI definition, contract negotiations, accounting/controlling, and much more.
2. What drew you to 3D Spark?
Ruben:I've always been fascinated by manufacturing technologies and dream of a world where all components are produced with minimal waste. This vision led us to found 3D Spark, providing a transparent basis for decision-making in manufacturing analysing thousands of production options and showing the cheapest, quickest and most sustainable way to manufacture any component.
3. A feature of the 3D Spark platform that you are particularly proud of?
Ruben: The Process Comparison feature is a standout. It allows customers to analyse parts based on their entire production reality, meaning all their machines, materials, and process steps - regarding 1. Manufacturability, 2. Make Cost vs. Buy Prices, 3. Production Time, and 4. CO2 footprint. This way, customers can check with one click, if parts can be produced and with which cost, time and CO2 impact based on 10, 100 or even thousands of manufacturing process chains. I remember getting goosebumps when I got to try this feature for the first time which was a long-held vision up until then.
4. What is a piece of advice you would give to someone who is new to your field?
Ruben: I would advise newcomers to "Love it, Change it, Or Leave it!" This mantra emphasizes the importance of passion, action, and the courage to make necessary changes.
5. What are your hobbies?
Ruben: I love engaging in outdoor sports with friends, such as kite surfing in the North and Baltic Sea, which are both close to Hamburg. Also, Beach volleyball, wave surfing, traveling and anything adventurous in general. Apart from that, watching movies like all time classic Lord of the Rings with some good Paneer Butter Masala is always something that I look forward to!
