Welcome to our Employee Spotlight series - a glimpse into the individuals driving 3D Spark forward. In this series, we focus on highlighting the professionals who contribute to making our company an impactful workplace.
In this article, we’re excited to introduce our new working student, a Full Stack Developer, who is set to play a crucial role in enhancing the 3D Spark platform. With a passion for technology and problem-solving, he shares his insights on improving platform functionality, embracing innovation, and his enthusiasm for making 3D printing more accessible and efficient.
What is your role on the 3D Spark team?
As a working student Full Stack Developer, I will contribute to improving the platform’s functionality, support the team in implementing new features, and work to make the platform more efficient and user-friendly. I focus on both frontend and backend development, ensuring the platform runs smoothly and provides the best possible experience for our users.
What drew you to 3D Spark, and what is the importance of the 3D Spark platform in your opinion?
I was drawn to 3D Spark because it brings automation to a process that is often manual and time-consuming. The platform helps companies quickly determine which 3D printing technology is best for their part and what it will cost - without having to compare each manufacturing technology manually. Making 3D printing more accessible, efficient, and scalable is something that excites me, and I’m happy to contribute to that.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
"Geht nicht, gibt’s nicht!" (There’s no such thing as can't!) In tech and development, there’s always a way to solve a problem - it’s just a matter of figuring it out. Whether it’s debugging a tricky issue, optimizing performance, or implementing a new feature, persistence and creative problem-solving are key. This advice keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward, no matter how complex the challenge.
What feature of the 3D Spark platform are you particularly proud of, or do you find most beneficial for users?
One feature that stands out is the platform’s ability to automate the cost and manufacturability analysis of parts. This is incredibly valuable for users because it allows them to quickly assess different 3D printing technologies and compare costs, saving both time and resources. It simplifies decision-making and empowers users to make informed choices without needing to manually compare multiple options.
What is a feature you look forward to implementing in the 3D Spark platform, and why?
I’m excited about the potential to implement a feature that automatically recognizes parts and extracts their dimensions from a simple photo or an uploaded technical drawing. Instead of manually measuring and entering data, users could just take a picture of the part, and the system would determine its size and key specifications. This would make the process even more efficient, eliminate potential human errors, and save time for companies using 3D printing.
What are your hobbies?
I love traveling and experiencing new cultures. Football and golf are my go-to sports, and I enjoy challenging myself with new activities - whether it’s skydiving or exploring new places. These experiences keep me energized and provide me with fresh perspectives that I can bring to my work at 3D Spark.
